Imagine planting vineyards and building a winery, working nearly 30 years to build a brand as well as awareness of a region, growing a cellar of older vintages, making a home & raising a family. Imagine being given 40 minutes to grab essentials & evacuate a fire that exploded from a firecracker tossed into the gorge nearby. Phelps Creek was almost swallowed by that fire. And despite the efforts of the firefighters who worked to protect people and property, the rains are what finally stopped that blaze.
We will taste a lineup of their gorgeous wines—white, rosé, & reds and learn a little bit about what makes the Columbia River Gorge a unique place for viticulture. Let’s raise a glass & toast their survival.
